Ian & Sarah

"In 2000, Lindsey, Daniel and Jonathan, along with others from our youth group, went to a Youth for Christ event in Saratoga Springs, NY. At that time we were ages 19, 15, and 13, respectively. While at this event we were in a worship service lead by a local Christian band. Immediately our hearts were drawn to the ministry, style, and personalities of this challenging young group. After the service we discussed the draw and what we all felt was a calling from the Lord to start a similar group. Unfortunately, Lindsey was the only one with any significant musical experience with years of piano lessons. Jonathan played saxophone in the junior high band, along with a few piano lessons under his belt. Daniel had only a dream of being a drummer. Undeterred, we pressed through out superficial short-comings and trusted God to be strong where we were weak. So, Daniel brought his first drum kit (cheap, real cheap) and a few drum lessons, Jonathan spent his hard-earned allowance on a used bass, and along with Lindsey, began practicing day and night. We practiced together for what seemed a long-off goal. We were convinced, however, that the Lord had called us and we made Him our focus and driving force. Two and a half years later, God put a passion in Ian’s heart to learn to play the guitar. In January 2003, after returning from college, Ian joined the band as the guitarist. Though we’ve had our share of trials and challenges, we believe that God has given us the name: Morijah (which means “seen by God”) and the passion and vision to sing of His Glory. Our purpose in this life and with this group is simply to make much of Christ in everything we do and everywhere we go. We are unsure of where this path will lead in the end but without a doubt we know that where He leads us we will follow."
